OUR LAB

Production-Scale Testing in a Controlled Environment

Our lab isn’t a benchtop setup. It’s a full production-scale corona treatment line. We test your actual substrate on the same equipment we manufacture, so the results translate directly to what you’ll see on your production floor.

The line consists of an unwind/rewind with advanced web handling, a QC Advantage corona treatment system for any substrate—conductive or nonconductive—and a QC TNT Touch N’ Treat corona treatment system for high efficiency treatment of nonmetallized substrates. Our lab also features the sheetfed versions of these two systems and a DocuDyne for small A4 sized sheet samples. We measure surface characteristics before and after treatment using KRUSS analysis equipment and dyne testing devices.

HOW IT WORKS

Three Steps to Guaranteed Results

01

Tell Us About Your Application

We collect details about your substrate, ink or coating chemistry, line speed, treat width, and downstream process requirements. This lets us design a testing plan specific to your application.

02

Ship Us Your Substrate

Send us a roll of your material. We run it through our production-scale treaters at multiple watt densities, measuring surface energy before and after treatment using KRUSS analysis equipment and dyne testing. We identify the optimal treatment parameters for your application.

03

Receive Your Report

We deliver a detailed material analysis and treatment report, including measured surface energy at each watt density, surface characteristic data, and our recommendation for the right corona treatment system and configuration for your line.

YOUR DELIVERABLES

What You Get Back

Detailed material analysis: surface characteristics of your substrate before and after treatment, measured with KRUSS analysis equipment
Treatment report: dyne levels achieved at multiple watt densities, showing exactly how your substrate responds to corona treatment
System recommendation: the specific corona treater model, power configuration, and treatment parameters matched to your substrate, ink chemistry, and line speed
Engineering consultation: direct access to the engineers who ran your trials, available to answer questions about results, integration, and next steps
Treated sample material: your substrate returned with treated sections so you can verify adhesion performance in your own facility

What We Test With

QC Advantage

Production-scale bare roll treater for conductive and nonconductive substrates. Widths up to 60″. The same system we manufacture for production lines.

Any SubstrateUp to 60″

QC TNT Touch N’ Treat

Covered roll treater for nonmetallized substrates. Tests your film under the same conditions as a production blown or cast film line.

NonconductiveFilm Extrusion

48″ Sheet Treater & DocuDyne

Sheet-format corona treatment for rigid substrates up to 48″ and lab-scale sample treatment on the DocuDyne for smaller substrates and R&D evaluation.

WHO IS THIS FOR

Lab Testing Is Right for You If…

You’re evaluating a new corona treatment system and want to verify treatment parameters before committing to a purchase
You’re qualifying a new substrate and need to know if it can be corona treated to the dyne levels your process requires
You’re troubleshooting adhesion problems on an existing line and need independent surface analysis to identify the root cause
You’re switching ink or coating chemistry and need to confirm your current treatment levels are adequate for the new formulation
You’re upgrading from a competitor’s treater and want to see QC’s treatment performance on your actual material before making the switch
You need data to support a capital equipment purchase: our lab report provides the documentation your team needs to justify the investment

Lab testing is free for customers purchasing corona treatment equipment. For standalone testing services without an equipment purchase, contact us for pricing. Either way, you’ll receive the same rigorous testing process and detailed report.
