Corona Treatment for Every Converting Process
From flexible film extrusion to narrow web label printing, corona treatment is the critical step that ensures inks, coatings, adhesives, and laminates bond reliably to polymer substrates. QC Electronics builds treaters matched to your exact application.

Every QC corona treater is custom-configured for your specific process. Select your application to see recommended equipment and how corona treatment solves adhesion challenges in your industry.
Corona Treatment Works on Nearly Any Material
If your process bonds to a polymer surface, corona treatment can improve adhesion. Here are the most common substrate categories we treat.
Flexible Films
PE, PP, PET, nylon, BOPP, and specialty films for packaging, labeling, and industrial applications.
Rigid Plastics
Sheets and corrugated plastics requiring surface treatment before printing, coating, or bonding.
Paper & Paperboard
Coated and uncoated papers and specialty paper substrates for enhanced ink and coating adhesion.
Foils & Metals
Aluminum foil, metallized films, and thin-gauge metal substrates for packaging and industrial converting.
Nonwovens & Textiles
Spunbond, meltblown, and woven fabrics for medical, hygiene, filtration, and industrial applications.
Rubber & Elastomers
Rubber sheets, silicone, and elastomeric materials requiring surface modification for bonding or printing.
What Does Corona Treatment Do?
Corona treatment increases the surface energy of low-energy substrates so that inks, coatings, adhesives, and laminates bond properly. Here’s the process in three steps.
High-Voltage Discharge
The corona treater generates a high-voltage electrical discharge between an electrode and a grounded roll, creating a corona field across the web surface.
Surface Modification
The corona discharge breaks molecular bonds on the substrate surface and introduces polar functional groups—raising the surface energy measured in mN/m or dynes/cm.
Reliable Adhesion
With adequate surface energy, inks, coatings, adhesives, and laminates wet out evenly and bond permanently—eliminating adhesion failures downstream.
